This Blog follows Artist Rebecca Gouldson as she creates a commission for, and inspired by, the Dales Countryside Museum.
Rebecca has worked with the museum collection of objects and tools relating to local Dales Crafts, and has used them as a starting point for the collections of metalwork she will create and install at the museum.
This project was commissioned by Chrysalis Arts on behalf of North Yorkshire Open Studios

I came across this illustration of a design for a wire sock-stretcher; an alternative to the wooden ones I've seen at the museum. I thought I'd follow the design and make one out of brass wire.

A template for bending my brass wire in to shape.
The nails will allow me to shape the wire around them in to the shape of the sock.

Two struts are soldered in place to hold the shape and provide support for the structure of the sock stretcher.
